About the Community Accounting Network

Community Accounting services exist all over the UK, and their aim is to help local charities to manage their finances.

The Community Accountancy Network is one of CFG’s Special Interest Groups.

Community Accountancy Services provide affordable support to charities on many areas of finance – from accounts, payroll, and bookkeeping to finance software or ad hoc support.

Each Community Accountancy service will offer different things. We suggest you contact your local Community Accountancy Service directly to find out more.

This network aims to:

  • Help charities to find their local Community Accountancy Service
  • Promote good practice among Community Accountants, and provide them with practical resources and guidance to support their development
  • Provide information for those who wish to become Community Accountants or deliver Community Accountancy Services, and details on how to join to network.


Membership of the Community Accountancy Network is available to any CFG member organisation currently providing, or developing, community accountancy services.

Members receive email updates and notifications of relevant events and training, such as the Community Accounting Conference which takes place annually in February.   The conference for Community Accountants takes place once a year. The next conference is running in February 2017 in Birmingham.

The CFG Community Accounting Conference is designed for anyone involved in providing services and support in finance, accounting and payroll to the voluntary and community sector.

The conference offers practical advice and technical updates on issues such as tax, payroll and IT and HR, as well as giving you time to network with your peers.


The Network has its own LinkedIn discussion group.

You need to request to join the group, which you can do in one easy step, and we will approve your request to join as soon as possible.

The LinkedIn group is a forum to ask other Community Accountants questions, share resources and exchange experiences.

The Network’s Advisory Panel

The Community Accountancy Network has an advisory panel made up of Community Accountants.

The panel meets regularly (usually every 2-3 months), to discuss common issues, opportunities and challenges and to inform the work of the Network.  Currently we are looking for new members for this panel please email membership@cfg.org.uk for more information.
